Our Legacy

In 1972, Robert Torray founded Torray Investment Partners as a value-oriented investment firm to serve the needs of institutions and their pension fund participants. Throughout the subsequent decades and multiple market cycles, our commitment to the foundational principles that drive our risk-managed approach to concentrated equity investing has never wavered. We remain 100 percent independent, owned, and operated by the people responsible for the management of client capital, which helps ensure our efforts are aligned with the long-term objectives of our shareholders.

Fund Strategy

  • We view common stock ownership as investment in a business and evaluate businesses and stocks using qualitative judgment based on experience rather than top-down forecasting.

  • We use our risk-managed approach and fundamental analysis to identify businesses that have demonstrated the ability to grow earnings profitably and the propensity to return increasing amounts of cash to shareholders.

  • We aim to achieve long-term appreciation and growth of income for our shareholders.
